Southern Rustic Furnishing
So really, we never expected this thing to take off so quickly! We were adjusting to being newlyweds, new homeowners (thanks to your help of course!), and most recently, new parents. We both have fulltime jobs and really just trying to keep it together! As our household was coming together, we had a wall in our living that really just stayed empty because we could not find ANYTHING that suited or taste or our budget. We looked high and low for new furniture, and even some older pieces that we could reinvent. One Saturday we spent hours looking around second hand stores for an old piece of furniture that we could flip. Sure we found lots that we liked, but there was no way we were spending that kind of money on something that we weren't in love with. As we were driving around New Orleans, Derrick looked over and said to me "I'm tired of looking around for something that I could probably build myself." I was like, "Excuse me? Build?" He convinced me that he knew what he was doing, and then we began looking around for some ideas on Pinterest and came up with a design. I had no idea how talented my husband is! He draws out the plans, does all the math, something I'm totally not good at. We invested in a few necessary tools and got to work. Our first piece was a console table for our empty wall. He built the entire thing in one day, and I painted and stained it while he went to work the night shift. We excitedly posted on Facebook and surprisingly enough, people started to show interest! We did an outdoor set for a family member and posted that as well. We then started a Facebook page and added our friends and family. Soon after, the orders started POURING IN. We offer high quality custom designs at an affordable price. Being a small business owner can certainly be challenging, especially with both of us having fulltime jobs. Derrick is a process operator at a Plant and works shift work, and I am a nurse that works 8-4:30 in a clinic setting. We are living the life and business that we have built and cannot wait to see where this road takes us!
